The pictures above show Penedo situated in the foothills of the Serra Mantiqueria, on the edge of Itatia National Park.
No buildings higher than two stories are allowed in Penedo. It has retained an element of Scandanavia that came with Finnish immigrants who settled here.
The third photo above shows part of the Itatiaia national park as seen from the Penedo area.
